Eyelid surgery offers several benefits, including potentially improved vision if excess skin is obscuring your sight. While restoring function and appearance, it's often used for aesthetic enhancement to address signs of aging or a heavy-looking brow.

Blepharoplasty can refresh your appearance by addressing wrinkles and under-eye bags that may make you appear tired or older. The procedure commonly targets the upper and lower eyelids, as well as the hollows beneath the eyes and the tear troughs, for a well-rested and rejuvenated look.

Upper Eyelid Surgery

  • Undergoing upper eyelid surgery only requires a local anaesthetic

  • The incision is made discreetly in the crease line above the eyelashes

  • The incisions are closed using very fine sutures

Lower Eyelid Surgery

  • Undergoing lower eyelid surgery requires local anaesthetic

  • An incision is usually made from the outer part of the eyelashes

  • Overlapping skin will be removed during the procedure

  • The incisions are closed using very fine sutures

Benefits of Eyelid Reduction Surgery (Blepharoplasty)

  • Increase your self-confidence and self-esteem

  • Reverses the effects of premature aging

  • Enjoy a fresh and younger look

  • Potential to improve your vision in some case

Things you might like to know

What is Blepharoplasty?

Blepharoplasty, also known as eyelid reduction surgery, is a type of aesthetic procedure that eliminates surplus skin or fat from the eyelids. The removal can occur from the upper, lower, or both eyelids, based on the patient's requirements.

How long do the results of Blepharoplasty last?

The results of blepharoplasty last, on average, for at least 5-10 years. This number is influenced by how well you take care of your skin.

Eyelid Surgery Procedure

Our Ophthalmologist Mr Kopsidas, will decide how much skin and fat to remove. Incision lines are marked along natural skin creases and extend into the "crow's feet" at the eye's outer edge. The excess skin and fat are removed, and the incisions are sutured closed. The procedure is performed under local or general anesthesia.

Expected results from eyelid surgery

Results depend on the extent of the corrective work, individual skin structure, healing time, hereditary factors, age, and other physical characteristics. All surgical procedures carry some risk, which will be discussed during your consultation.

Alternatives to Surgery

Alternatives to surgery include botulinum A toxin, chemical peels, or laser treatments. If other parts of your face have cosmetic issues, a forehead or brow lift may be suggested instead.
