What are facial thread veins / spider veins?
Facial thread veins, (also referred to as spider veins) are essentially normal skin blood vessels running very close to the surface of the skin that have become permanently enlarged and broken due to some form of damage. They often appear as thin red broken lines ( ocassionally purple or blue) typically occurring over and around the nose, across the cheeks and the chin.
What causes facial thread veins / spider veins?
The most common causes include simple ageing, excessive exposure to sun light, extremes of weather, alcohol consumption, hormonal changes & pregnancy, injury to the face, genetics/hereditary, skin diseases (such as Rosacea), connective tissue disorders and liver disease.
BBL treatment for facial thread veins / spider veins?
The treatment causes minimal discomfort and is usually easily tolerated. The face and nose can be a little more sensitive.
It is vitally important to protect this skin with SPF factor 50 in the weeks and months after treatment.
One treatment is often enough to achieve long lasting results however depending on severity and extent of the thread veins it may take more than one treatment session to achieve the desired long lasting results.
